Currently, there is a structural contradiction between electric vehicles and new energy vehicles in our country. That is, the number of powerful batteries is sufficient in our country, but the problem is that the owners of new energy vehicles "cannot find them, they cannot use them, and they charge slowly."

During this spring vacation, a car owner's bad experience of driving home in a new energy car sparked a heated debate on the Internet. According to the media, the vehicle owner originally took 15 hours for an 8-hour drive, which is one of the main reasons for the long charging standby time. "I charged the battery 3 times on the way home. I had to wait about 2 hours each time and it took another hour to charge." The owner of the car declared himself poor.

The experience of the owners of this car is no exception. With the rapid increase in the number of new energy vehicles in our country, charging has become a problem facing most car owners.

Many factors lead to "recharging of new energy vehicles".

Since the phenomenon of "charging problem" is so common, the most direct way to solve this problem seems to be to build a charging pile. But just as 'building more roads' doesn't significantly reduce traffic jams, blindly piling up chargers isn't a real solution to the charging problem.

Liu Yundong, deputy secretary-general of the China Electric Commission and head of the transmission and energy storage department, told Science and Technology Daily that there is a structural contradiction between current chargers and new energy vehicles in China. That is, the number of powerful batteries is sufficient in our country, but the problem is that the owners of new energy vehicles "cannot find them, they cannot use them, and they charge slowly."

According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Security, by the end of 2022, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide will reach 13.1 million, among which 10.45 million will be clean electric vehicles. A total of 5.21 million charging stations have been built across the country by the end of 2022, Tian Yulong, chief engineer and spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, told a press conference. That means, on average, every 2.5 new energy vehicles nationwide can be connected to a charging stick.

Currently, the travel needs of most new energy vehicle owners are city tours. Traveling distances in cities are typically tens of kilometers, so charging is not frequent and many charging sticks are idle.

“Currently, average social usage of charging bars in cities is less than 10%, and average social usage of charging bars on highways is much lower at less than 1%.” Tong Zongchi, Deputy General Secretary of Electric Vehicle Manufacturers and Replacement Association Branch of China Electric Vehicle Electric Infrastructure Promotion Alliance, told reporters.

Recently, on Weibo, not only the charging rod is a problem, but the problem of 'personal electric batons entering the community' is frequently searched. For example, some new communities refuse to allow new energy vehicle owners to install charging poles due to safety concerns. In some older communities, charging stations cannot be installed because they do not have permanent parking spaces and do not consider the charging needs of new energy vehicles early in planning.
